Kobe Bryant has been such icon for me ever since I was a kid and his attitude to winning and preparation has inspired me and so many millions across the globe. That will to win and determination that I observed and also his ability to get it done with all the questions around him in the back-to-back titles that the Lakers had in 2009 and 2010 really changed the way I approached my life.
But now that the Lakers have bowed out of the NBA playoffs and Bryant has gone two years in the league without being able to win that elusive sixth NBA championship to equal Michael Jordan, everyone is now wondering whether Bryant is now in the twilight of his Hall of Fame career.
It has even inspired a song by a fan named Kobye that is a parody of ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ which was a recent hit single by Gotye.
Hollywood and Los Angeles in general is used to winning NBA championships and this is how Kobe measures himself every season too. A season which he doesn’t win an NBA title is considered a wasted year. His words.
There are now many who feel that there are some changes that are needed in La La Land and I guess Derek Fisher had the last laugh this season. I mean I think the whole idea of Kobe not being a great player anymore is unfair, but I haven’t really watched all the games to make a knowledgeable opinion.
The experts who have say that he should be a better distributor of the ball and I couldn’t agree with them more.
