I guess you won’t see me post on this site after every game like I do about football, but just wanted to check back in with what is happening in Laker land. The 2012 NBA-All Star game will be played on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. It will air at 8PM ET live on TNT and two of the Lakers are leading in the votes for their respective positions.

As you guessed, Kobe Bryant should surely make the start in what would be his 14th All-Star appearances with his 690,613 votes and also the front-runner for Western Conference guards. His 40 points against the Utah Jazz assisted greatly in defeating the Jazz 90-87 in overtime. Kobe and the Lakers have been on a hot streak as of late and moved to the third seeding in the West with an 8-4 record. But, really the only test for Bryant at this point is going to be in the playoffs and the NBA Finals should the Lakers get there.
Getting back to the All-Star game, big men Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol will have a chance to play in the All-Star game as well. Bynum is leading in the votes for Western Conference centers with 496,597 votes and will make his first appearance after undergoing knee surgery last year and having a lot of trouble earlier on in his career with his relationship with Bryant.
As for Gasol, there is a good chance he may miss out this year after three straight appearances. He has the fourth highest votes among West Forwards behind fan favorites like Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki.
